Use Track to track emails sent from the Gmail app, the iOS Mail app or the Outlook app. Connect your Google or Microsoft email account to Track, then select the recipient with the Track prefix when you send a message.
Track is an email tracking service for Google and Microsoft email accounts. You send messages from your email app and review recorded opens in Track. Link and attachment tracking are available through the tracking options in your account.
Track creates tracking contacts for your connected account. If a recipient is missing from the suggestions, use Prepare Tracked Email.
On Android or iPhone, connect your Google account to Track and use the same account in the Gmail app.
If the tracking contact is not suggested, follow the new-contact steps below. You can also see the recipient selection demo in Track's Help screen.
Use Apple Mail on your iPhone to send from the Google or Microsoft account you connected to Track. The Mail app and your email account are separate: these steps use your connected Google or Microsoft account.
If the contact is not available in Mail, use Prepare Tracked Email in Track instead.
On Android or iPhone, connect your Microsoft email account to Track and send from that same account in Outlook.
If Outlook does not suggest the tracking contact, use Prepare Tracked Email.
Your phone's mail-app settings determine which app opens. For missing tracking contacts, you can also open Track's Settings and select Run Setup Again. Allow the account's contacts to sync, then try the recipient suggestions again.
In Track's Help screen, tap Send Test Email to Yourself. Your mail app opens a message addressed to your own tracking recipient. Send it from your connected account, open the received email, then check Track. The same test button is available after account setup. Read the tracking limitations when interpreting the result.
The contact with the Track prefix uses a tracking address. For example, person@example.com becomes person@example.com.trackapp.io. Selecting that contact or using Prepare Tracked Email fills in the address for you.
For this method, selecting an ordinary recipient address alone does not enable tracking. You do not need a desktop browser extension to use the mobile steps above.
Open Outbox in Track to see your tracked messages and select a message to review its recorded events. In Settings, use the tracking options and Notify me when section to manage email-open, link-click and attachment-open notifications.
No. An open event is a signal, not proof that a person read or understood the message. Image blocking can prevent an open from being recorded, while privacy features and automatic image loading can affect open counts, timing and location. For example, Apple Mail Privacy Protection hides information about recipients' Mail activity.
A missing open does not prove the email was unread, and a reported location may be unavailable or may not be the recipient's actual location.
Reopen the mail app you used to send the message and check its Outbox. Some mail apps, including Gmail, may not finish sending if you return to Track immediately. Confirm the message has sent before checking its status in Track.
Recipients do not need to install Track for ordinary email-open tracking. This differs from a traditional read-receipt request, which may ask the recipient to send a confirmation. Track's open signals are still subject to the limitations above.
Track's mobile sign-in offers Google and Microsoft accounts. Use the connected address as the sender in Gmail, Apple Mail or Outlook. If you use several email accounts, check the From: address before sending. To connect another supported address, use Add Email Address in Track's Settings; account limits depend on your plan.
Read the Privacy Policy for information about account permissions and data handling. See plans and subscription options for current features and pricing. For help with your account or a tracking message, visit Support or email team@trackapp.io.
